Many studies have been done to better understand the complex language of the humpback whales. We know that the males produce the long songs and it is likely that, as the males sing mainly during the breeding part of the year, their songs are related to mating. These recordings were done in deep waters off Maui, Hawaii with high quality hydrophones. The result is exceptionally clear recordings that allow you to hear and appreciate their incredible songs.
